Intro to 3D Design: Fusion 360 Class

Attendees MUST register on the MeetUp Event

In this introductory 3D modeling class, students will learn essential concepts and techniques to create their own digital models. Through hands-on practice, they’ll model a LEGO Technic brick and discover fundamental tools like sketching, extrusion, and reading technical drawings to create precise designs. By the end of the session, students will be equipped with foundational skills to start bringing their design ideas to life in 3D.

This class will be taught Nick Dunne, Ettelie Lovern and Max Bareiss. It will be taught at MAKE Roanoke at 128 Albemarle Ave SE Unit B. Please bring a laptop with Fusion 360 CAD software preinstalled.

To install Fusion 360, please create a free hobbyist account beforehand, as it will require a login. https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/personal Click “Get autodesk fusion for personal use” and create and account to be able to download. Please download the installation locally and installed before coming to class. If you are having issues with the installation process, please reach out to us with enough advance notice before class starts, either through email (info@makeroanoke.org), discord, or meetup. Please note that there will not be enough time during the class to troubleshoot installation issues.

Please note that MAKE Roanoke is an active workshop:

  • All participants must have a signed waiver on file. If the participant is a minor, the wavier must be signed by a parent or court-appointed legal guardian.
  • Closed toed shoes are required in the space at all times by everyone, regardless of age or participation in an event. No sandals, crocs, or bare feet.
  • You may be asked to remove or tuck in dangling jewelry, lanyards, etc for safety.
  • Depending on the activity, other dress code rules may apply.
